1 LP

UK Release Date 13 November 2000
UK Catalogue Number Apple 5293251
Weeks On UK Chart (to date) 197 (All releases)
Peak UK Chart Position 1 (For 9 weeks)

Released in November 2000 1 entered the UK charts at number one where it stayed for 9 weeks, selling over half a million copies in the first 2 weeks alone. Unbelievably this was the first Beatles compilation to make number one in the UK charts.

On 4 December 2015 the album was re released around the same time as the 1+ releases and contained new stereo mixes done by Giles Martin and Sam Okell.

I have both releases on vinyl shown below

Original 2000 Release

This copy was bought for me as a gift when I didn’t even have a turntable any longer and still has the receipt with it – £39.95 (CDs really were king at this time with very little vinyl being sold). The matrix numbers are : Record 1 – Side 1: 5293261 A-01-1-3; Side 2 5293261 B-01-1-3: Record 2 – Side 1: 5293271 A-02-1-2; Side 2: 5293271 B-01-1-2. It comes with 4 card pictures and a poster – very white album me thinks – and everything is in excellent to mint condition.

Estimated Value : £35 – £40

2015 Remaster

This release covers the USA, Canada and Europe and has the new catalogue number 0602547567901. Visually there is not much difference between this copy and the one above, really just “The Beatles” being in yellow and the various placements of the Apple logo. The hand etched matrix numbers on this release are : Record 1 – Side 1: 47567949 BF06330-01 A2 MILES ABBEY ROAD 1/2 SPEED; Side 2 47567949 BF06330-01 B1 MILES ABBEY ROAD 1/2 SPEED: Record 2 – Side 1: 47567956 BF06330-02 C1 MILES ABBEY ROAD 1/2 SPEED; Side 2: 47567956 BF06330-02 D1 MILES AR 1/2 SPEED STAN RICKER RIP & THANK YOU (Stan Ricker was a mastering and lacquer-cutting engineer known for cutting vinyl at half speed who passed away on 16 July 2015). Like the 2000 copy it comes with 4 card pictures and a poster and everything is in excellent to mint condition.

Estimated Value : £20 – £25
