Released on 27 October 1997 in the UK (by Parlophone) and not until 24 February 1998 in the US (by EMI Records) this third collection of John’s solo greatest hits (Shaved Fish and The John Lennon Collection being the other two) has spent, to date (July 2016), a total of 74 weeks in the UK charts, helped by a re release and new publicity campaign in October 2003. It peaked at number 4 in the UK in it’s first week of release though only managed to climb to number 65 in the US.
By this time CD ruled the roost so vinyl albums were produced in very small quantities. The pictures below are of my first press copy, though there was only the one pressing, which has the matrix numbers 8219541 A-03-1-1 D, 8219541 B-2-1-1 D, 8219541 C-2-1-1 D and 8219541 D-3-1-1 D. It is in excellent condition, all four sides playing through immaculately. The gatefold sleeve and the two inner sleeves are also in excellent condition, not a mark on them.
As for valuation you don’t see many come up for sale to judge. At the moment there are 2 for sale on Discogs at £85 (VG condition) and £140 (seller says mint- condition) and one for sale on eBay for £95 (seller says G/VG record but sleeve and inners have scuffs, small marks and wear) though I think these sellers are being a bit optimistic. Two have recently sold on eBay however for £10.50 and £26.50 which I think is a little low though they are not as in good condition as this one
Estimated Value : £50
