Issued to promote the just released John Lennon Collection album, Love was released in the UK on 15 November 1982 and spent a total of eight weeks in the charts, peaking at number 41. It was not released as a single in the US. In order for it to work as a single and gain radio airplay the quiet beginning and ending were remixed to bring the volume in line with the rest of the song.
The photograph on the cover was taken by Annie Leibovitz on 8 December 1980 – the day of John’s death.
I don’t know why but both the cover and label list the B side as “Give Me Some Truth” when the track is actually “Gimme Some Truth”
The pictures below are of my first press copy which has the matrix numbers R6059 A-3-1-1-5 and R6059 B-3-1-2-X1. The record is in good to very good condition, playing through with some light crackle and the odd light pop. The picture sleeve is in very good condition, just some ringwear as can be seen in the pictures.
Estimated Value : £5
