Released in the UK on 18 June 1990, this charity single in aid of the Romanian Angel Appeal spent two weeks in the UK charts at numbers 44 and 52. It did not receive a release in the US.
The song dates back to the 1940s and has been covered by numerous artists, including The Beatles in their Hamburg days when they were backing Tony Sheridan, which can be heard on The Beatles Featuring Tony Sheridan.
The CD version was issued in the UK/Europe on the same day as the other formats under catalogue number W 9773 CD and, unlike the 7″ single, which only has Lumiere, an instrumental track by Dave Stewart (The Eurythmics), on the B side, also has a live version of With A Little Help From My Friends by Ringo. It was recorded at the Greek Theatre, Los Angeles on 4 September 1989 with Ringo backed by his All Starr band.
My UK/Europe copy is shown below. I also have it on 7″ vinyl, shown here, and 12″ vinyl, shown here.
