Released on 10 June 1966 Paperback Writer spent 2 weeks at number one in the UK charts. I have 7 copies on 7″ single, the 5 listed below and 2 more in singles box sets.

First Press

The pictures below are of my first press copy which has the matrix numbers 7XCE 18380-2 and 7XCE 18381-2. You’ll see that the perimeter text now starts THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD…. My copy has a large P next to 1966 at around 8’clock on the label, some copies have a small p. Second pressings, from 1967, had a solid centre only. The record has the odd light surface mark but plays through excellent, just the odd bit of feint crackle. The sleeve would rate as very good, some creasing and ringwear and some feint writing in green pen on both sides.

Estimated Value : £3 – £5

Fourth Press (Green Sleeve)

n March 1976 all the Beatles singles were re released in new picture sleeves. I believe there is no difference at all in any of these pressings but, for the record, mine has the matrix numbers  7XCE 18380-4 and 7XCE 18381-2.. Both the record, just some odd very feint crackle, and the sleeve, some minor ring wear and a little staining at the opening, are in excellent condition.

Estimated Value : £5

Picture Disc

Released on 9 June 1986 as part of the It Was Twenty Years Ago Today series. Being a picture disc I have never played it but it appears to be in excellent condition.

Estimated Value : £20 – £25

Capitol For Jukebox Only

In 1996 Capitol issued 15 Beatles singles on coloured vinyl in jukebox only style under their CEMA banner (they issued another 15 in 1994). Below is my copy of Paperback Writer on red vinyl. Being on coloured vinyl I have never played it but it appears to be in excellent condition. It comes in a plain white sleeve.

Estimated Value : £10

Record Store Day 2010

The pictures below are of my RSD version released on 17 April 2010 and limited to 4000 copies. This version is in stereo as opposed to the original release that was in mono. The record itself has a couple of tiny marks, one on each side, but these do not interfere with the playing of it, which is excellent, in any way. The sleeve, save for a tiny nick on the front, is also in excellent condition.

Estimated Value : £20
