Originally released on 24 October 1975 in the UK and 4 days earlier on 20 October 1975 in the US, Shaved Fish was John’s last release on Apple Records and contained all his singles to date with the exception of Stand By Me that had been released earlier in the year. Imagine was obviously also included and, though it hadn’t previously appeared as a single in the UK, it was released on the same date as Shaved Fish having an eleven week run in the charts peaking at number 6.
It’s interesting to note that Give Peace A Chance was credited to Lennon & McCartney on the original 1969 single release and on initial releases of Shaved Fish but was later changed to Lennon only on later releases.
It received it’s initial official release on CD in the UK on 26 May 1987 on the EMI label under catalogue number CD PCS 7173. This was a UK/Europe release and the international catalogue number is CDP 7 46642 2. It contained the same tracks as the original album. I believe the first US release was at the same time on Capitol under catalogue number C2 7 46642 2 and was housed in a long box.
The next release came in 1990 again on EMI in the UK (this was a European release) and Capitol in the US, both releases carrying the catalogue number CDP 7 46642 2.
Finally, there was a further release in both the UK/Europe on EMI and the US on Capitol/Apple in 2011, both again carrying the catalogue number CDP 7 46642 2
