Released on 23 August 1963 this was the first Beatles single to sell one million copies in the UK. It had 2 seperate spells at number 1 totalling six weeks. I have 6 copies on 7″ single, the 4 listed below and 2 more in singles box sets
Below are pictures of my first press copy. There are a variety of different labels for this press with THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD at the start of the rim text in lower case or capitals (like mine) and the matrix number on the actual label being either above or below RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963, mine is below. The matrix numbers are 7XCE 17395-1N and 7XCE 17396-1N and it has a KT tax code. The record plays excellent all the way through though “Sue” has written her name on the label – luckily in black pen so it’s hardly noticable. The sleeve would rate as very good, a couple of tears at the front.
Estimated Value : £3 – £5
Second Press (Green Sleeve)
In March 1976 all the Beatles singles were re released in new picture sleeves. I believe there is no difference at all in any of these pressings but, for the record, mine has the matrix numbers 7XCE 17395-2 and 7XCE 17396-2.. Both the record, just some odd very feint crackle, and the sleeve, some minor ring wear, are in excellent condition.
Estimated Value : £5
Released on 22 August 1983 as part of the It Was Twenty Years Ago Today series. Being a picture disc I have never played it but it appears to be in excellent condition.
Estimated Value : £10 – £15
Capitol For Jukebox Only
In 1994 Capitol issued 15 Beatles singles on coloured vinyl in jukebox only style under their CEMA banner (they issued another 15 in 1996). Below is my copy of She Loves You on red vinyl. Being on coloured vinyl I have never played it but it appears to be in excellent condition. It comes in a plain white sleeve.
Estimated Value : £10
