Released in the UK on 4 May 1992 and the US on 28 April 1992 to promote the Time Takes Time album. This was Ringo’s first single for 11 years and although it failed to crack the US charts it managed to reach number 74 in the UK charts during it’s one week stay – Ringo’s first UK chart entry for eighteen years. It was released on both 7″ vinyl and CD with the CD release including the extra track Don’t Be Cruel which, although recorded during the Time Takes Time sessions, was not included on the album.
Weight Of The World, recorded in February 1992, was written by Brian O’Doherty and Fred Velez and was produced by Don Was whilst After All These Years, recorded in April 1991, was written by Ringo, Johnny Warman and Gary Grainger and was produced by Jeff Lynne, who also provided bass, guitar, keyboards, piano and backing vocals. The CD’s bonus track, a cover of Elvis’s Don’t Be Cruel, was again produced by Jeff Lynne, who again provided bass, guitar, keyboards and piano.
The CD was released on Private Music in both the UK/Europe and US, the UK/Europe carrying catalogue number 665 392 and the US carrying catalogue number 01005-81003-2
