Released on 7 February 1964 this EP spent 44 weeks in the EP chart, eight of those weeks at number 1, and twelve weeks in the singles charts, peaking at number 12. Two tracks are taken from the Please Please Me LP (they are also the B sides from the first two singles) and two tracks are taken from With The Beatles. Again, the original Please Please Me numbers are credited to McCartney-Lennon though this reverts back to the familier Lennon-McCartney for the track All My Loving.

I have 4 copies on vinyl, the 3 shown below and one more in a box set.

First Press

The pictures below are of my first press copy. It has RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963 at 9 o’clock on the label which a second press also has but a third press would just have (p) 1963. It doesn’t have SOLD IN THE UK…text across the centre of the record which you’ll find on second presses only and the perimeter text starts THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD… as opposed to THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD…. which came on third presses from mid 1969. The matrix numbers on this copy are 7TCE 790-1N and 7TCE 791-1N and has an KT tax code. The record has numerous light marks a small sticker on the A side but plays well throughout, though there is some feint crackle and the odd feint tick, and the original sleeve (later sleeves have a tab cut out on the rear at the opening) is in very good to excellent condition as can be seen by the pictures, just some minor ring wear.

Estimated Value : £10

Second Press

The pictures below are of my second press copy. It has RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963 at 9 o’clock on the label where a third press would just have (p) 1963. It also has SOLD IN THE UK…text across the centre of the record which you’ll find on second presses only and the perimeter text starts THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD… as opposed to THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD…. which came on third presses from mid 1969. The matrix numbers on this copy are 7TCE 790-1N and 7TCE 791-1N and has an KT tax code. The record plays excellent throughout, just some occasional feint crackle and the original sleeve (later sleeves have a tab cut out on the rear at the opening) is in very good to excellent condition as can be seen by the pictures, just some minor ring wear.

Third Press

The pictures below are of my third press copy from somewhere between 1969 and 1973. You’ll see that the perimeter text starts THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD…. as opposed to THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD… and there is no SOLD IN THE UK…text across the centre of the record. Also the publishing year is shown as (p) 1963 at 9 o’clock. The matrix numbers are 7TCE 790-2 and 7TCE 791-1N and, although there is no tax code on the label itself, it has a KT tax code in the run out on side one. The record plays excellent throughout and the original sleeve, with the tab cut out on the rear at the opening, is in excellent condition as can be seen by the pictures.

Estimated Value £5 – £10
