Released on 1 May 2012 in both the UK and the US, this collection of demos and early takes had just one week in the UK charts at number 66 whilst in the US it managed to make number 20 during a three week stay. The collection had previously been available in the UK as part of the deluxe box set of the Living In The Material World film that was released in October 2011.
It could easily have been entitled All Things Must Pass…. Naked as six of the ten tracks are from that album – without Phil Spector’s heavy production. There is one track from Living In The Material World, one from Thirty Three & 1/3, a cover of Bob Dylan’s Mama You’ve Been On My Mind and a cover of The Everly Brothers’ Let It Be Me. The title of the album suggests there’s more to come.
The UK CD release is a European affair on Universal Music, catalogue number 0602527990422 whilst the US release is on UMe, which is a division of Universal Music, with catalogue number B0016734-02. The CD is housed in a gatefold digipak with the cover featuring a photograph of George taken by famous Beatles photographer Robert Freeman. The rear has the track listing and inside the gatefold features liner notes by Giles Martin and credits.
