Released on 29 November 1963 I Want To Hold Your Hand had advanced sales of over one million and took over from She Loves You at Number 1 in the UK charts where it spent 5 weeks. I have 6 copies on 7″ single, the 4 listed below and 2 more in singles box sets.
The pictures below are of my first press copy which has the matrix numbers 7XCE 17559-1N and 7XCE 17560-1N and a KT tax code. The are several variations of the label knocking around as EMI had to use both Decca and Oriole for contract pressings to keep up with demand. Mine doesn’t but some labels have NCB at the end of the publishing credit at 9 o’clock on the label and there are some with solid centres. The record is in very good condition, there’s just some minor feint crackle here and there, and the sleeve too good be described as very good, some minor ring wear and creasing.
Estimated Value : £3 – £5
Second Press (Green Sleeve)
In March 1976 all the Beatles singles were re released in new picture sleeves. I believe there is no difference at all in any of these pressings but, for the record, mine has the matrix numbers 7XCE 17559-3 and 7XCE 17560-3.. Both the record, just some odd very feint crackle, and the sleeve, some minor ring wear, are in excellent condition.
Estimated Value : £5
Released on 28 November 1983 as part of the It Was Twenty Years Ago Today series. Being a picture disc I have never played it but it appears to be in excellent condition.
Estimated Value : £10 – £15
Capitol For Jukebox Only
In 1994 Capitol issued 15 Beatles singles on coloured vinyl in jukebox only style under their CEMA banner (they issued another 15 in 1996). Below is my copy of I Want To Hold Your Hand on clear vinyl. Being on coloured vinyl I have never played it but it appears to be in excellent condition. It comes in a plain white sleeve.
Estimated Value : £10
