Released 22 September 2014 in the UK, where it failed to chart, and one day later in the US, where it managed to reach number 167 in the charts, this box set features George’s first six solo albums that were released on the Apple label plus a bonus DVD. Each CD has been digitally remastered from the original analogue masters and all, apart from Wonderwall Music, contain bonus material, though the five bonus tracks on All Things Must Pass are the same as the 2001 release. The DVD includes assorted video clips plus a new seven and a half minute “Apple Years” feature. Also included is a hardback book that houses the DVD and includes an introduction by George’s son, Dhani, essays by radio producer and author Kevin Howlett and some rare and previously unseen photos.
At the same time as the box set release each CD was also made available to purchase seperately. The CDs that were sold seperately have barcodes on the rear of the covers whilst those from the box set do not.
The pictures below are of my box set. Everything is as close to mint as you can get without it being brand new. A flyer came with the set advertising the Dark Horse years box set which I’ve shown below. On the rear is the sticker that was attached to the cellophane of this box set.
